Centennial Building of the MRC of Argenteuil

Built in 1887 in Lachute, the centennial building of the MRC of Argenteuil was originally constructed as a courthouse. Since the early 1980s, this landmark building has housed the MRC’s offices.   The restoration project focused on several exterior elements, including the roof, the original cornices on three façades, selected windows, and targeted masonry repairs throughout the building.   A complete roof replacement was one of the project’s major interventions. Extensive historical research guided the selection of materials faithful to the building’s character. The new roof, combining standing-seam copper and slate, restores the full presence and elegance of the building’s original architecture.
